How to bring up FIT payments when considering direct connection, or connecting to buildings that don’t achieve a “D” rating.

If you’re NOT connecting a solar PV system to a qualifying building and doing a direct connection, you may thing “great”, we will get 100% export (you still need to fit an export meter).

Sadly, you will have the reduced rate of Feed in Tariff for “standalone” systems… with a FIT rate of c. 6p/kWh. This can be a common occurance with ground mounted solar PV systems.

 FIT Rates from 1st April 2014

FIT Rates Fixed to 1 Jan 2014

OFGEM has confirmed that FIT rates will remain the same until 1st January 2014.

This is in direct response to the UK solar PV installation rate, which currently is around 4MW per week (under the FIT scheme).

FIT Rate Update - 1st November - 31st January 2013

DECC has announced the Solar PV FIT rate reductions applicable for Q4 of 2012.  These rates are reductions from the previous quarter, and are based upon the cumulative deployment of solar panels across the Great Britain.

Government loses FIT Appeal

The Government has lost the right to appeal against the FIT reductions that were proposed to take effect from 12 December 2012.  The official route, that complied with their legal requirements now means that any installation that was completed prior to March 3rd 2012 will receive the FIT rate of 43p, or 21p if completed after (based on domestic installations).
