The Midlands-based solar energy equipment wholesaler All Eco Energy offers a range of solar PV string control systems to its customers in the renewable power installer trade.


These systems work to make controlling large installations easier. By allowing large number of strings to be connected to one line incoming in to the inverter, with an average of ten amps per string.


To prevent damages to individual strings, fuses are placed in each line. This means that the system is able to protect each line of modules individually rather than allowing any surges or problems to damage other equipment in the chain. When combined with the all-pole fuse protection system present in most of these devices, the DC side of the equipment is protected against virtually all faults. Lightning protection is also possible in these kinds of system, providing a veritable boon for tall buildings.


Greater Safety with Solar PV String Control

For greater safety during maintenance visits, the integrated external DC disconnector allows the generation side of the PV system to be isolated from the inverter. This allows engineers to work on the system whilst it is safely de-energised.


The other function of solar PV string control systems is to enable the status of the system and its level of power output (and therefore the maximum efficiency) to be monitored remotely. This can be either within the business premises of the end user, or more often for this size of system, from a remote monitoring point via IP across the internet or via GSM (mobile phone) technology. Direct connection to a solar PV string control system from PC is also possible should this be a desired method of communication.
